October is AAC Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating with a little Ghostbusters fun at Simply Speech!
AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) can include use of gestures, signs, pictures, communication boards, or speech-generating devices when oral speech is difficult.
Our message this month is simple: Don’t be afraid of AAC! AAC doesn’t prevent speech development. In fact, research shows that AAC can support spoken language development, too.
Don’t be afraid to say hi!
Whether someone communicates through speech, gestures, or an AAC device, everyone deserves to be included in the conversation. Give AAC users time to respond, and remember that communication is a two-way street.
Watch our Ghostbusters-inspired AAC Awareness Month video and have a little fun with us!
